Job summary

Standard Iron is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to lead plant safety, health, and environmental programs at our Thomson, GA facility. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, training, and incident investigations to foster a safety-first culture.

The ideal candidate will have OSHA and HazMat knowledge, 3–5 years in manufacturing, and strong communication skills to collaborate with operations and leadership across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and HazMat/Right-to-Know regulations.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience with Workers’ Compensation and workplace injury management.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and follow-up corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Manage the Workers’ Compensation program, including injury reporting, claim coordination, employee follow-up, and return-to-work processes.
• Coordinate and conduct new hire safety training, plant safety orientations, and ongoing employee safety training.
• Monitor safety metrics, incident rates, near misses, and other KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Oversee environmental compliance, permits, and required regulatory reporting.
