Job summary

Path Robotics in Columbus, Ohio seeks a Manufacturing Design Engineer Intern for Spring 2027 to support autonomous welding systems. You will translate customer CAD models into Path’s formats, modify CAD files, and prototype fixturing concepts for automated welding.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates are pursuing Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, have CAD experience (SolidWorks or Inventor), and possess strong communication skills

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with a bias toward action and creative problem-solving.
Previous internship or project experience in manufacturing/design is a plus.

Responsibilities

Interface with customers to receive, interpret, and transfer CAD models into Path’s system.
Modify or clean up CAD files as needed to align with autonomous weld planning.
Collaborate with engineering and software teams to troubleshoot model-related integration issues.
Develop and prototype fixturing concepts or part setups to enable automated welding.
Identify and implement creative design solutions to improve manufacturability and system performance.
Document processes and lessons learned for knowledge sharing and system improvement.
