Job summary

Dauch is seeking a Cost Accountant to support the controller and finance team by establishing cost accounting procedures, preparing cost reports, and conducting cost audits to ensure accurate allocation of costs across departments and products.

The role collaborates with manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing to establish standard costs for new products, monitor variances in material, labor, and overhead, and assist in financial forecasts related to cost performance.

Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance or related field.
• 2+ years experience in a finance role within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and overhead allocation.

Responsibilities

• Determine and implement cost accounting procedures and methods aligned with industry best practices.
• Prepare and analyze cost reports and conduct regular costing audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Examine unusual cost records and ensure proper allocation of cost data across departments and products.
• Establish standard costs for new products in collaboration with engineering and production teams.
• Monitor and report on cost variances, including material, labor, and overhead.
• Perform accounting for price variances and overhead recovery on a regular basis.
• Provide detailed analysis of cost drivers and trends to support operational efficiency and profitability.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and forecasts related to cost performance.
• Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering teams to understand cost structures and changes, ensuring requisitions are properly coded.
• Support internal audits and external financial reviews related to cost accounting.
• Other relevant duties as assigned
