Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to own the cost accounting function across standard costs, BOMs, labor, overhead, and variance analysis.

You will collaborate with Operations and Finance to turn data into actionable decisions that improve cost, productivity, and profitability. You will drive month-end close activities, analyze costs and margins, and communicate insights to leadership while strengthening internal controls and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing accounting.
• Experience with standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, labor, overhead, and variance analysis.
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort with large data sets.
• ERP experience; SAP experience is a plus.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to accounting and non-accounting audiences.
• Leadership experience or potential for greater leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Own the Cost Accounting World: manage standard costs, BOMs, labor, overhead, absorption, product costing, production variance reporting.
• Establish and monitor manufacturing cost standards; lead standard cost rolls.
• Analyze material, labor, overhead and production variances and root causes.
• Partner with Operations to identify cost, process, productivity, and profitability improvements.
• Review manufacturing data and master data for accuracy and issue resolution.
• Turn financial data into actionable information for leadership.
