Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller who will oversee manufacturing cost accounting and partner with Operations and Finance to drive better cost decisions.

You’ll own standard costs, BOMs, labor, overhead, and variances while leading cost reporting and process improvements. You will work closely with Plant Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to turn data into actionable insights, support the close, and help strengthen internal

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing accounting.
• Experience with standard costing, BOMs, inventory valuation, labor, overhead, and variance analysis.
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the cost accounting function, including standard costs, BOMs, labor, overhead, absorption, product costing, production variance reporting, and work order variances.
• Establish, maintain, and monitor manufacturing cost standards.
• Lead standard cost rolls and ensure product costs reflect current manufacturing realities.
• Analyze material, labor, overhead, and production variances and causes.
• Partner with Operations to identify cost and productivity improvements.
• Review manufacturing data and master data for accuracy and identify issues.
• Turn financial data into actionable information for leadership.
• Provide analysis on manufacturing costs, margins, inventory, production, and operational performance.
• Support month-end close and financial reporting.
• Assist with audits and strengthen internal controls.
