Job summary

Jobot partners with a growing manufacturing organization in Chicago to hire an experienced Cost Accountant who will support standard costing, inventory management, and financial reporting across production operations.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on cost accounting experience, strong ERP knowledge, and solid understanding of BOMs, standard costing, and inventory reconciliation. Travel to facilities is occasional.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, BOMs, inventory accounting, and variances.
• Experience with ERP systems and maintaining costing data.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with large data sets.
• Ability to communicate with finance, production, warehouse, and operations teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and validate standard costs for manufactured products.
• Manage BOMs, ensuring accurate costing for new and existing products.
• Lead annual standard cost updates and recurring cost accounting processes.
• Analyze manufacturing cost variances and identify optimization opportunities.
• Reconcile inventory across facilities and warehouses.
• Partner with production and warehouse on month-end counts, valuation, reporting.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and strengthen financial controls.
• Maintain cost accounting data and ERP transactions.
• Support month-end close, COGS reporting, and financial analysis.
• Provide costing insights for product and customer profitability.
• Collaborate with operations to identify cost risks and savings.
