Job summary

Goodwill in Savannah, GA is seeking a Cost Accounting Analyst to perform cost accounting review and analysis of materials, labor and overhead, and to determine standard costs for products manufactured by the unit.

The role supports monthly close, analyzes costs, updates standard costs, BOMs and routings, and reports on cost variances to management. A bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5+ years experience, with advanced Excel and NAV skills, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus 5+ years in accounting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and financial matters.
• Proficiency in cost accounting theory and practice with at least five years’ experience.
• Solid understanding of balance sheets and income statements.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Positive attitude, team player with process improvement mindset.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under company vehicle policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly financial reporting and closing processes with timely, accurate analysis.
• Support cost accounting procedures with Director of Accounting and CFO.
• Plan, study, and collect data to determine material, labor, and overhead costs.
• Analyze data and record results.
• Assess effects of design changes on cost and profitability.
• Prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual costs.
• Update standard costs, BOMs and routings as needed.
• Investigate scrap and cycle count variances and resolve issues.
• Reconcile related balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Assist with annual external financial audits.
