Job summary

Emergent Staffing represents a growing manufacturing client in Carlsbad, California, seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller to lead accounting operations, close processes, cost and inventory accounting, and drive scalable internal controls.

This role reports to senior finance leadership, partners with operations and engineering, and offers visibility across finance and manufacturing while shaping a high-performing finance team onsite.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Previous Controller or Assistant Controller experience.
• Strong background in manufacturing accounting.
• Deep expertise in cost accounting and inventory accounting within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with standard costing, inventory controls, variance analysis, BOM management, and WIP accounting.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting practices.
• Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and building scalable financial operations.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Own all aspects of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, and inventory controls.
• Manage standard costing, variance analysis, BOM, and WIP accounting.
• Oversee general ledger activities and preparation of consolidated financial statements.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and audit-ready processes.
• Support external reporting requirements and readiness for future compliance initiatives.
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, engineering, supply chain, operations, and manufacturing teams.
• Lead accounting process improvements and identify opportunities for automation and scalability.
• Manage and mentor accounting personnel while helping build a high-performing finance organization.
• Establish and refine accounting processes to support expanding manufacturing operations.
• Serve as a strategic business partner while remaining willing to dive into day-to-day accounting activities when needed.
