Job summary

Vast located in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Manufacturing Coordinator for the second shift to support Haven-1 manufacturing. You will coordinate material flow, stage materials, and track work orders to keep builds on schedule.

You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to resolve blockers and maintain production flow. This full-time, non-exempt role operates 2pm-10:30pm and offers comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and on-site

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor the flow of tubes, hardware, and fittings through bending, weld, proof, NDE, and quality operations to maintain schedules.
  • Ensure materials, components, and tooling are staged and ready for upcoming builds.
  • Track work order status and hardware readiness for tube assembly activities.
  • Identify and escalate issues impacting production schedules such as material shortages or quality holds.
  • Maintain accurate build status within internal tracking tools and handoffs.

Job description

Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure using an incremental, hardware-rich, and low-cost approach. Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches in 2027, followed by additional Haven modules. Additionally, the company recently announced Vast Satellite, a high-power satellite product line leveraging its space station components and the heritage of Haven Demo.

Headquartered in Long Beach, California, and with more than 1,000 employees and over a billion dollars in private capital, Vast has built the facilities required to manufacture and operate America’s next space station. The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.

Vast is looking for a Manufacturing Coordinator, Second Shift, reporting to the Supervisor, Tube Shop, to support Haven-1 Manufacturing. This role is responsible for coordinating, ensuring material delivery meets with schedule timelines. You’ll be working cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to maintain production flow and resolve any blockers proactively.

This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Shift hours:
  • Second Shift: 2pm - 10:30pm
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and monitor the flow of tubes hardware and fittings through bending, weld, proof, NDE , Quality operations to ensure schedules and build priorities are maintained
  • Work with manufacturing technicians, engineers, and supply chain teams to ensure materials, components, and tooling are staged and ready for upcoming builds
  • Track work order status and hardware readiness including material, fittings, tubes required to support tube assembly activities
  • Identify and elevate issues impacting production schedules such as material shortages, tooling availability, quality holds, or documentation gaps
  • Maintain accurate status of builds and assembly activities within internal tracking tools and work order systems
  • Ensure proper handling, careful packaging, and documentation of completed avionics hardware for downstream handoffs and storage
  • Support coordination between production operations and downstream activities to ensure seamless hardware transitions
  • Generate and maintain reports that provide visibility into build status, upcoming assembly activities, and potential schedule risks
  • Collaborate with the Master Scheduler, engineers, and manufacturing leadership to align production priorities and capacity
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and maintain schedule adherence
  • Assist with material staging, hardware kitting, and documentation required for Tube shop assembly activities
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • 2+ years of Smartsheet
  • Highly detail oriented and self starter
  • Forklift experience
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs unassisted

Pay Range: California $18 — $30 USD
