Job summary

Beacon Engineering Resources is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Controls Engineer experienced in building, commissioning, integrating, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate understands the complete machine — electrical, power, controls, networking, PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and robotics.

The role covers controls programming, machine build and commissioning, FAT/SAT, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements, including MTTR and MTBF, to keep production running

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls/Automation Engineering or related field.
• Strong hands-on manufacturing automation experience.
• PLC programming and electrical/controls troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and work directly on production equipment; strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program controls for automated manufacturing equipment.
• Read electrical drawings, verify specifications, and integrate systems.
• Perform FAT/SAT, machine bring-up, and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot electrical and controls issues in live production.
• Improve uptime and reliability; drive MTTR and MTBF improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Controls Programming & Integration

• PLC programming: Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff
• Robot and automation integration: Fanuc, KUKA, ABB
• MES and industrial network interfacing

Machine Build & Commissioning

• Electrical assembly, control panels, I/O wiring, and equipment integration
• Read and verify electrical drawings and specifications
• Perform FAT/SAT, machine bring-up, and commissioning
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and controls issues

Production Troubleshooting & Reliability

• Rapidly troubleshoot live production equipment
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent countermeasures
• Improve equipment uptime, reliability, MTTR and MTBF
