Job summary

The Baker Company in Sanford, ME is seeking a Buyer/Planner to manage purchasing and production planning. This full-time role supports manufacturing operations, maintains Epicor data, and expedites purchase orders and weld schedules to meet production needs.

You will collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Accounting, and suppliers to ensure material availability, timely transactions, and accurate job information, while applying Lean principles to improve flow and reduce waste.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing, production planning, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems required. Epicor knowledge a plus.
• Basic knowledge of purchasing and production planning processes.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders to support production requirements.
• Manage suppliers using price, quality, delivery, and service; monitor on-time delivery and expedite when needed.
• Maintain supplier, part, lead-time, buyer code, pricing, and other purchasing information in Epicor.
• Assist with month-end purchasing and inventory reporting.
• Create, monitor, and close production work orders (jobs) in support of production operations.
• Prepare production schedules to accurately assign timing for incoming work.
• Interface with operations daily for schedule-related issues.
• Maintain accurate and timely job information within Epicor.
