Job summary

Socket.dev in Springfield, MO is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to design production tooling and machines, and develop solutions for materials, processes and tooling. You will support new programs by designing tooling, machinery, and production controls.

The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, Python automation, 3D printing, and machine vision, with a focus on continuous improvement and quality standards such as IATF 16949:2016.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Product Development.
• Five (5) years of Manufacturing experience.
• Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, machining practices, the properties of metals, and the application of mathematics to production machinery and tooling.
• Able to visualize and comprehend manufacturing equipment problems and interrelationships.
• IATF 16949:2016 experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Marine and Automotive powertrain products.
• Experience with Python for manufacturing automation and data analysis.
• Experience with industrial PLCs, controls integration, and automation systems.
• Hands-on experience with 3D printing for prototyping and tooling.
• Experience with machine vision systems for inspection and process control.
• Proficiency in Windows, Word, PowerPoint, spreadsheets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to multi-task across 5-10 projects.
• Effective relationship management with teammates and customers.
• Willingness to expand competencies through training.

Responsibilities

• Participates in manufacturability decisions for new product lines.
• Collaborates with Production, Sales, and Materials to establish production standards.
• Reviews and improves facility layout and product flow.
• Coordinates with Quality, Production, Sales, and customers on new product launches.
• Assists maintenance with machine/tool installation and setup.
• Sets up new equipment and ensures proper operation.
• Trains production personnel on new equipment and processes.
• Implements new processes, controls, and manufacturing methods.
• Keeps up with new manufacturing technologies and evaluates applications.
• Supports capital budgeting and evaluation of capital equipment.
• Develops Python-based scripts to automate tasks and analyze data.
• Supports PLC programming, integration, and troubleshooting of automation systems.
• Uses 3D printing to prototype tooling and fixtures.
• Integrates machine vision systems for inspection and process control.
• Adheres to IATF 16949:2016 and other quality standards.
