Job summary

Moog Inc. in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Lead Engineer to design, develop, implement, and support cost‑effective automated manufacturing cells and systems, including robotics, industrial controls, machine tending, material handling, automation networking, machine vision, and automated assembly for our manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will collaborate across engineering and operations teams, with an onsite schedule in East Aurora, NY, and will travel as

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or engineering.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including projects in industrial automation and control systems.
Hands‑on industrial controls and integration experience required.
Effective communication skills.
Ability and willingness to be flexible and cope with change in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization.
Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.
Solid understanding of computer programming and software development as it relates to control systems
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex automated system tests.

Responsibilities

Identify, develop, and recommend cost‑effective manufacturing automation systems to improve cost savings or throughput.
Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency, utilization, and output.
Assist with specification and purchase of automation capital equipment, balancing technology and ROI.
Interact with employees from other departments and external automation integrators for project execution.
Support ongoing manufacturing improvements involving automation components to optimize productivity.
Provide support and development to existing automation projects in Moog facilities.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automation‑related software and hardware issues.
Travel may be required as systems are being researched, developed, and installed.
Minimize production impact while implementing new automation processes.
Work in a cross‑functional matrix organization with teams and sites.
