Job summary

Jabil is seeking an Automation Engineer II to design, implement, and support automated production systems in a high-volume electronics environment. This hands-on role focuses on improving safety, quality, and throughput on day-to-day operations.

You will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and MES data, driving improvements across OEE and cycle times while adhering to EHS and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/mechatronics/mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in automation within a manufacturing environment, electronics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to production lines and resolve automation issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions (QRQC/8D).
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and subsystems.
  • Support shift teams during escalations for rapid recovery of lines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, yield, and reliability.
  • Analyze process data to drive OEE improvements and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Implement poka-yoke and process standardization.
  • Support cost reduction through automation and redesign.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, EHS, and Jabil standards.
  • Develop and maintain schematics, SOPs, and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure equipment safety compliance (LOTO, guarding, risk assessments)

Job Summary

Manufacturing Automation Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of automated production systems within a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands-on and focused on supporting day-to-day production operations, improving equipment performance, and deploying automation solutions to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to production lines, resolving equipment and automation issues to minimize downtime
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions (QRQC/ 8D)
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and electrical/mechanical subsystems
  • Support shift teams during escalations to ensure rapid recovery of production lines
  • Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, yield, and equipment reliability
  • Analyze process data to drive OEE improvements and eliminate recurring issues
  • Implement poka-yoke, error-proofing, and process standardization
  • Support cost reduction initiatives through automation and process redesign
  • Ensure adherence to safety, EHS, and Jabil engineering standards throughout all projects
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including schematics, SOPs, and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards (LOTO, guarding, risk assessments)
  • Support audits and ensure proper change management practices are followed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience in automation within a manufacturing or production environment (electronics manufacturing preferred)
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of: PLC programming, HMI development (FactoryTalk or equivalent), Vision systems (Cognex or similar), and Industrial controls, sensors, and actuators
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with automated equipment
  • Experience with robotics, conveyors, and assembly/test automation
  • Familiarity with MES integration and data collection systems
  • Experience supporting high-mix, high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 3M analysis (Man/Machine/Method), and OEE improvement
