Position Overview
Our client, a growing and innovative manufacturing organization, is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer II to join its engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on automation professional who enjoys designing, implementing, and improving automated manufacturing systems that directly impact productivity, quality, and operational performance.
In this role, you'll work with advanced automation technologies including PLCs, robotics, machine vision systems, motion control, and automated testing equipment while partnering closely with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC and control systems for automated manufacturing equipment (Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron).
- Design, specify, implement, and commission automated and semi-automated manufacturing equipment
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-controlled production systems
- Support robotics, machine vision, motion control, sensors, and automated testing technologies
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, reducing waste, and improving quality
- Perform root cause analysis, PFMEA, DOE, A3 problem-solving, and process improvement activities
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and manufacturing process changes
- Develop and maintain work instructions, routings, process flows, control plans, and BOMs
- Collaborate with suppliers, integrators, and cross-functional teams to implement automation solutions
- Support production through troubleshooting, upgrades, and process optimization
- Ensure compliance with machine safety and manufacturing standards
- Mentor and support junior engineering team members
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Controls, Automation or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering and/or automation engineering experience
- Hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting experience
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Experience with process improvement and manufacturing best practices
- Knowledge of manufacturing documentation, BOMs, routings, and ERP systems
Bonus Skills - Preferred
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
- Robotics programming and integration experience
- Experience with automated assembly processes
- Knowledge of machine safety systems and risk assessments
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
