Job summary

Howmet Aerospace seeks a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to provide on-site technical expertise for CNC, EDM, Waterjet, and automation in Hampton, VA. You will develop automated processes, qualify new products on manufacturing equipment, and support manufacturing engineering with process improvements.

The role covers programming, tooling design, and implementation of advanced manufacturing equipment, with NADCAP considerations and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum five years in an engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of tooling, fixture design and manufacturing processes.
• Proficient in CAD; Siemens NX is an advantage.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use MS Word/Excel/Project.

Responsibilities

• Create and release machining programs for CNC, EDM and Waterjet equipment.
• Create and release robot programs for automated cells.
• Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
• Develop and implement new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation.
• Support capital funding justification and cost reduction initiatives.
• Create and maintain SOPs, EMSs, JSAs for CNC, EDM, Waterjet and automation.
