Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Hampton, VA, is seeking a Manufacturing Automation Engineer to provide technical expertise for on-site manufacturing processes including CNC, EDM, Waterjet, and automated operations.

You will develop automated processes, qualify new products on equipment, and support improvements across the engineering team. The role includes creating machining and robot programs, designing tooling, and implementing new automation technologies while supporting NADCAP compliance and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
Five years of relevant experience in engineering environment.
Good understanding of tooling, fixture design and manufacturing processes.
Proficient in CAD; Siemens NX is an advantage.
Ability to read engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

Create, verify and release machining programs for CNC, EDM & Waterjet.
Create, verify and release robot programs for automated cells.
Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
Develop and implement new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation.
Support capital funding requests justification.
Cost reduction and process improvement of current techniques.
Maintain documentation including SOPs, EMSs, JSAs for CNC, EDM, Waterjet, production gauging.
