Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Hampton, VA is seeking an Automation Technician to support manufacturing processes, automation, and tooling.

You will develop, test, and release robot programs, create tooling, and help implement new automated equipment, with focus on minimizing downtime and improving OEE. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 3 years' engineering experience, proficiency in CAD, and reading drawings; visa not available.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in an engineering environment.
Good understanding of tooling, fixture design and manufacturing processes.
Proficient in CAD, Siemens NX an advantage.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
High computer literacy (Word/Excel/Project).

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for manufacturing processes including automated operations, machining and production gauging.
Develop automated manufacturing processes and qualify new products on manufacturing equipment.
Create, verify and release robot programs for automated cells and other programmable equipment.
Design tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
Create SOPs and EMS documentation for automation.
Support implementation of new advanced manufacturing equipment and automation.
Assist in capital funding justification and process improvements.
Record and improve OEE of critical equipment.
Work with Maintenance to troubleshoot manufacturing systems.
