Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a hands-on Pallet Builder/Repairer to construct and repair wooden pallets using recycled materials and lumber. You will inspect finished pallets to ensure quality and prepare shipments, while keeping a clean, safe workspace and working with supervisors to meet production goals.

Ideal candidates have experience with woodworking tools, a focus on quality, and the physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in demanding conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Craft apprenticeship preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience safely operating woodworking tools.

Job description

  • Build wooden pallets from recycled materials, deconstructed pallets, and/or lumber
  • Repair damaged pallets and return them to service-ready condition
  • Consolidate and ship repaired pallets back to customers
  • Utilize appropriate tools and methods for pallet repair
  • Communicate with Production Supervisors, Assistant Plant Manager, and Plant Manager
  • Examine repaired products for conformance to quality standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Build and repair the required number of pallets after training
  • Work safely without constant supervision to achieve production quotas
  • Stack pallets or materials correctly according to inventory control instructions
  • Check loads to ensure they are secure
Requirements
  • High school degree or GED required
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship preferred
  • Quick hands, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
  • Observance of all safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardized requirements exist
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Demonstrated experience safely operating air-driven, electric, pneumatic, and manual woodworking tools
  • Previous experience in welding, lumbering, construction, carpentry, or roofing strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions including heat, cold, and air particulate
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 75 pounds and bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for entire shifts
  • Personal Protective Equipment required, including eye protection, mandatory ear protection at several locations, and safety shoes
  • Close, distance, and color vision
  • Good sense of balance and eye-hand-foot coordination
