Job summary

Crate & Barrel is seeking a Pallet Repair Technician to inspect, repair, and document pallet condition within the Naperville facility. You will segregate damaged pallets, perform repairs per SOP, operate nail guns and compressors, and maintain logs of daily pallet activity.

The role emphasizes safety and accuracy in documentation, with training opportunities to improve pallet procedures and equipment handling. On-site position with standard warehouse shifts.

Qualifications

• Basic English language proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect pallets for damage.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect wooden pallets for damage, including broken or cracked stringers, broken or missing deck boards, and loose or protruding nails.
• Segregate pallets based on damage (repairable vs. non-repairable).
• Perform pallet repairs according to the SOP, including replacing broken stringers and deck boards, and repairing loose nails.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including compressors, air hoses, nail guns, and hand tools.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including designated areas for pallet inspection, repair, and staging.
• Document the number of pallets repaired daily, including date, employee name, and the number of 48” and 96” pallets repaired.
• Accurately record materials used in the repair process (replacement boards, nails, etc.).
• Submit completed Pallet Repair Logs to the supervisor at end of each shift.
• Properly handle and stage non-repairable pallets for disposal by local 3rd party vendor, and maintain accurate records.
• Adhere to all safety precautions, including PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and dust masks.
• Performs all job tasks assigned by leadership staff to achieve daily productivity and quality goals.
• Participate in training programs related to pallet repair procedures, tool usage, safety, and documentation.
• Operates all material handling equipment safely: stand‑up forklift (PE, PC, RC).
• Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools (hammer, nail gun, compressor).
