Sheridan Group is seeking a Manufacturing Associate – Press Bundler for the 1st shift in Wisconsin. You will assist operators with setup, monitor bundling, and help prepare presses for production, while ensuring safety and quality.

This entry-level role offers training and potential progression to higher levels within the Lithoman, Sunday, and Timson press lines. Candidates should have basic mechanical and math skills, be reliable, and able to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • Basic mechanical and math skills required.
  • Ability to learn bundling, roll tending, make-readies, and participate in production activities.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Must obtain Type II Forklift certification.
  • Strong attention to safety and quality.

  • Prompt attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist in set-up of folder, stacker, and sheeter.
  • Bundle folded book signatures and stack on pallet with hoist.
  • Ensure pallet and banding supplies are stocked; report shortages.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and assist in web up of press.
  • Assist in make-ready: wipe blankets, change ink, clean press area.
  • Assist with mounting plates/blankets and press maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in department.
  • Grease, oil, and maintain press equipment as scheduled.
  • Promote Sheridan philosophies and teamwork across departments.
  • Train for next level to cover absences and support progression.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Model Sheridan’s core values and reliability.

Job Summary

Responsible for assisting operators with basic set-up functions and for checking product to ensure highest level of quality. This position is the first level in a three-step career progression on the Lithoman Press, a four-step career progression on the Sunday Press, and a two-step career progression on the Timson Press. When adequately trained and a second level position opens, progression to next level will be offered and may require a shift change.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Monitor Assist in set-up of folder, stacker, and sheeter.
  • Uniformly bundle folded book signatures and stack banded and loose signatures on pallet using the hoist when available.
  • Ensure pallet, banding, and other supply materials are stocked; notify necessary personnel of shortages.
  • Perform minor machine adjustments and assist in web up of press when necessary.
  • Assist in make-ready including wiping down blankets, changing ink, and performing clean up on and around press. Assist as needed in mounting plates/blankets and perform maintenance on press equipment.
  • Responsible for cleaning and general housekeeping in department.
  • Grease, oil, and maintain press equipment as scheduled or required.
  • Foster the continual use and implementation of philosophies and tools that are taught at Sheridan while promoting the concept of working together as a team and with other departments to building continuous improvement within Sheridan.
  • Train to perform next level position to effectively cover absences and breaks as well as to be sufficiently prepared for job progression.
  • Continually identify, develop, and implement improvements in work processes.
  • Consistently and effectively serve as a positive role model by living Sheridan’s core values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical and math skills required.
  • Ability to learn and understand bundling, roll tending, assisting crew during make-readies, and actively participate in production-related activities and follow the direction of the press operators and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Type II Forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and structure and content of the English language to include the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively work independently with little or no direction and follow up to complete assignments required.
  • Ability to demonstrate practical and technical knowledge of the job including an understanding of work instructions, processes, equipment, and materials to perform the job required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively complete work and required paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and neatly following established processes and procedures required.
  • Ability to consistently and effectively demonstrate initiative and creativity; teamwork and cooperation; and adhere to and comply with all company and environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work rules required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime and other shifts required.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance required.
DesiredQualifications
  • Previous web or sheet fed press experience preferred.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals. Position requires ability to move with ease in the production area; remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time on concrete/hard surface; use hands and fingers constantly for handling, gripping, and manipulating product; constantly position oneself to complete work including bending, twisting, rotating, and reaching; and move product weighing up to 100 pounds.
