Job summary

Guardian Equipment, Inc. is seeking an Assembler III at our Chicago facility to perform highly complex mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly under supervision and troubleshoot to meet top-quality standards.

You will align components, use hand and power tools, and operate assembly machines, while documenting work, logging data, and maintaining a 5S workspace with strict PPE compliance on the production floor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum Experience: Related training or experience 2+ years in a manufacturing or assembly environment is required. Must have math skills and computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in utilizing common hand tools and power tools required for assembly tasks.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and systematically follow written work instructions, prints, and technical diagrams.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency for measurement verification, counting, and data logging.
  • Foundational computer literacy to access work orders, prints, and basic tracking applications.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail required to fit and align components within moderate tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Complex Assembly Operations: Under limited supervision, perform a wide variety of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly processes involving multiple steps and some complexity.
  • Component Alignment: Adjust, fit or align components to tight tolerances, specifications, and inspection standards.
  • Documentation and Procedure: Access work orders, prints, specifications, and technical information as required. Follow written work instructions, prints and prescribed routines. Exercise judgment to meet quality requirements and address challenges.
  • Tool and Equipment Use: Use hand and power tools. Setup and operate assembly machines.
  • Quality Inspection: Visually inspect in-process components and assembled units for quality adherence, structural integrity, and conformance to print specifications.
  • Data Logging: Accurately record completed production units, material scrap, and operational metrics using shop floor terminal interfaces or designated data sheets.
  • Station Maintenance: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workstation in full compliance with facility 5S guidelines, housekeeping standards, and routine material waste removal procedures.
  • Safety Adherence: Comply strictly with all company safety policies, including the mandatory and continuous utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and specific hand protection.

Job description

  • Listed pay range includes an additional $1.25 an hour for perfect attendance which employees have to earn and is paid out every two weeks.
  • Listed pay range is rate after completion of a 90 day probationary period.

Position Summary

The Assembler III is responsible for performing highly complex, varied mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly operations under minimal supervision. Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Physical Activity: Regularly required to stand, walk, and maintain physical balance for the entire duration of an 8-hour shift. Continuous use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, align or feel small industrial parts. Frequent reaching, pushing, and pulling actions are necessary.
  • Lifting Constraints: Must possess the consistent physical capacity to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 35 pounds unassisted throughout the workday.
  • Environment: Position is located entirely on an active manufacturing floor. The work area is climate-controlled but subject to minor localized temperature variations.
