This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional who is passionate about technology, manufacturing, and problem-solving. Whether you are a recent graduate or have gained experience through internships or co-op programs, you will have the opportunity to work directly with manufacturing, operations, engineering, and IT teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive manufacturing excellence.

In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for manufacturing applications and technology initiatives within assigned facilities. You will support day-to-day operational needs, coordinate issue resolution across multiple teams, and help evaluate and implement new technologies that improve efficiency, reliability, and productivity on the shop floor.

As Komatsu continues its journey toward Smart Manufacturing and Industrial IoT (IIoT), this position will play an important role in helping bridge the gap between Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). You will gain exposure to the systems, equipment, and technologies that connect manufacturing operations with enterprise IT systems, helping shape the future of manufacturing technology across our organization.

This position will initially support the South Harbor facility while also partnering with other key manufacturing locations. The role offers opportunities to travel to manufacturing sites (up to 25%) to collaborate directly with users, understand business challenges, and support technology implementations.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, customer focus, and a desire to learn. The ideal candidate enjoys working closely with both technical and operational teams, can think critically when solving problems, and is excited about using technology to advance manufacturing excellence.

This role offers a unique opportunity to build a career at the intersection of manufacturing, operations, and technology while helping drive the next generation of digital manufacturing capabilities at Komatsu.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary support resource for manufacturing applications and technology solutions within assigned manufacturing facilities.

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, and IT teams to understand business needs and identify opportunities to improve processes through technology.

  • Support the evaluation, implementation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of manufacturing applications and systems.

  • Act as the first point of contact for application incidents, service requests, and technology-related issues, ensuring timely resolution or escalation as appropriate.

  • Coordinate issue resolution across multiple IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions.

  • Monitor application performance, service levels, and support metrics to ensure reliable operation of manufacturing systems.

  • Assist with the deployment and adoption of new manufacturing technologies, applications, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Contribute to Komatsu's IT/OT convergence strategy by supporting technologies that connect shop floor operations with enterprise systems.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and technology enhancements that drive manufacturing excellence and operational efficiency.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation, system documentation, knowledge articles, and support procedures.

  • Participate in manufacturing technology projects, including system upgrades, implementations, testing, and user training activities.

  • Build strong relationships with plant personnel and serve as a trusted technology partner for manufacturing stakeholders.

  • Stay current on emerging manufacturing technologies, Industry 4.0 trends, Industrial IoT (IIoT), and best practices to help drive innovation across manufacturing operations.

  • Support governance, change management, and continuous service improvement efforts for manufacturing systems and applications.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.

  • Internship, co-op, academic project, or professional experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, operations, or technology environments.

  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing systems, manufacturing processes, or shop floor operations.

  • Ability to analyze problems, think critically, and troubleshoot technical issues in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret technical documentation, system architecture, and business requirements.

  • Demonstrated customer-service mindset with a passion for solving problems and helping users succeed.

  • Self-motivated learner with a strong interest in manufacturing technology, digital transformation, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% to support manufacturing facilities and technology initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting, implementing, or working with manufacturing applications, MES, SCADA, HMI, PLC, or other manufacturing systems.
