Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. in Franklin, PA invites a motivated engineer to assist in projects under senior staff guidance, contributing to product development and process improvements.

You will participate in cross-functional teams, apply basic design principles, and support ongoing testing and documentation processes. Qualifications

  • Certification in Technology or equivalent discipline is required.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools is desired.
  • Lean Engineering principles exposure is desirable.
  • Change Management experience is desirable.
  • Experience in focused team assignments is desirable.
  • Subscriptions to CAD-related publications are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components and products per market demands and for continual process improvements.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations including basic calculations and tests with defined requirements and outcomes.
  • Engage in Learning and Development opportunities to grow professionally within the organization.
  • Collaborate in a team to complete work on-time and to specifications.
  • Communicate engineering issues to ensure compliance with global standards and best practices.
  • Support improvements to streamline engineering processes for design, development, and support of components and services.
  • Perform product support tasks with cross-functional partners in Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Operations and Quality.
  • Prepare design layouts, models, and other specifications to satisfy requirements.
  • Set up and perform engineering tests as directed to satisfy requirements.
  • Make responsible for personal and team learning and development for mutual benefit.

Job Overview

Assist in engineering projects and evaluations under the guidance of senior staff, contributing to product development, process improvements, and cross-functional support while actively engaging in learning opportunities and team collaboration.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Perform in engineering projects to develop, maintain and support components, products and/or services per market demands, as well as for continual process improvements.
  • Perform or conduct engineering evaluations including investigations, basic calculations and tests that have broadly defined requirements and desired outcomes.
  • Participate in provided Learning and Development opportunities and seek out new learning opportunities, both inside and outside of the organization, to benefit oneself and the overall organization.
  • Work as part of a team to complete broadly defined work on-time and to specifications.
  • Engage in effective communication of engineering issues to ensure compliance with broadly defined global standards and engineering best practices.
  • Participate in and support improvements to streamline engineering processes used to design, develop, maintain and support components, products, and/or services.
  • Perform product support tasks with cross-functional business partners in Sales, Service, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality.
  • Prepare design layouts, models, and other engineering specifications to satisfy broadly defined requirements.
  • Set-up and perform engineering tests as directed to satisfy broadly defined requirements.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations that are relevant to design modifications and new developments.
  • Take responsibility both one's own learning and the development of others for the mutual benefit of oneself and the organization.
  • Work as part of a team supporting projects for orders or development projects.
  • Apply and check global regulations and safety compliance requirements for designs originating from oneself.
  • Provide information as directed for creation of Technical Reports and Service Bulletins
  • Make field trips to manufacturing facilities to observe machines during the build process. Provide technical assistance to manufacturing with respect to specification originating from self.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Certification in Technology or equivalent relevant discipline, required.
  • Proficient in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired.
  • Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired.
  • Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired.
  • Experience in focused team assignment(s), desired.
  • Subscription to CAD related technical publications, beneficial.
