Job summary

Morrison Container Handling Solutions seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting function in a manufacturing setting. You will oversee the month-end close, financial statements, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and tax-related accounting while guiding a small team.

In this role you will collaborate with the CEO, outside CPA, and cross-functional leaders to strengthen financial decision-making, improve processes, and protect confidential information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience with financial statement prep and reconciliations.
• Manufacturing cost accounting experience including inventory, labor, overhead, margin, and variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, payroll, sales tax, and general tax compliance.
• Prior accounting supervisory or team-lead experience.
• ERP or accounting system experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience supporting audits, CPA reviews, annual tax preparation, 401(k) administration, international orders, and VAT/GST or overseas sales requirements.
• Proven success improving accounting workflows, reporting, ERP utilization, cost visibility, or internal controls in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Financial Close and Reporting: Lead close processes; prepare financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and management reporting.
• General Ledger and Transaction Integrity: Maintain the general ledger; oversee AP, AR, receipts, vendor payments, customer collections, coding, and classifications with controls.
• Manufacturing Cost Accounting: Maintain product costing, inventory valuation, labor/overhead analysis, margin visibility, and variance investigation.
• Sales Tax Compliance: Own sales tax compliance across jurisdictions; file returns; registrations; monitor nexus and engage in new registrations as needed.
• Team Leadership: Lead and develop two accounts payable/receivable staff; set priorities, review work, coach, and conduct performance reviews.
• Systems, Controls, and Process Improvement: Strengthen policies, controls, documentation, and system utilization (Dynamics 365, Microsoft 365).
• Payroll, Commissions, and Benefits: Coordinate payroll, monthly commissions, 401(k) administration support, benefit accounting, filings.
• Confidentiality and Business Support: Protect sensitive financial information while supporting additional accounting and business needs.
