Job summary

United Tech is seeking a Manual QA Engineer (Backend) to join a fast, global team. You will test backend REST APIs, WebSocket flows, and data integrity across MongoDB, with emphasis on accuracy and reliability.

The role involves collaborating on requirements, designing tests, and validating monetization and analytics events to ensure a high-quality product. The position offers remote work with a flexible schedule and growth opportunities in automation testing tools.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in manual backend testing using API tools such as Postman, Swagger, or curl.
• Hands-on MongoDB experience with queries including filters, projections, and aggregations.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/REST fundamentals, including methods, status codes, headers, and token-based authorization.
• Experience with test management systems such as Qase, TestRail, or similar tools, and use Jira and Confluence in your work.
• Experience with MongoDB Compass or mongosh.
• Experience testing A/B experiments and analytics events, including BigQuery or SQL.
• Experience testing payment and subscription flows, including Apple/Google in-app purchases and web billing.
• Intermediate English (B1) or higher.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual testing of backend REST APIs and WebSocket flows using Postman, Swagger, and curl.
• Validate data and prepare test states in MongoDB.
• Test new backend features, verify bug fixes, and perform smoke, sanity, and regression testing before releases, including post-release production checks.
• Create and maintain test documentation, including test cases in Qase, checklists, and bug reports in Jira.
• Review product requirements and technical designs before implementation.
• Test A/B experiments, monetization flows, and analytics events, and work with internal tools such as admin panels, brand settings, and feature flags.
• Investigate bugs using logs and metrics in Grafana, identify root causes, and distinguish between client-side and backend issues while contributing to improved testing efficiency and quality.

In this role, you will dive deep into backend testing, working with both relational and document-oriented databases, REST API clients, Proxy tools, and analytics. Also you will test marketing logics, ensure seamless data accuracy, and directly influence the quality of a global-scale product. In this role, you will

• Perform manual testing of backend REST APIs and WebSocket flows using Postman, Swagger, and curl

It’s all about you

• Have 2+ years of experience in manual backend testing using API tools such as Postman, Swagger, or curl
• Have hands-on experience with MongoDB, including writing queries with filters and projections and using aggregation pipelines; confident SQL skills are an alternative, while MongoDB experience is preferred
• Understand HTTP and REST fundamentals, including methods, status codes, headers, and token-based authorization, as well as the differences between REST and WebSocket
• Know test design techniques such as equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, and decision tables
• Have experience with test management systems such as Qase, TestRail, or similar tools, and use Jira and Confluence in your work
• Have experience with MongoDB Compass or mongosh
• Have experience testing A/B experiments and analytics events, including working with BigQuery or SQL
• Have experience testing payment and subscription flows, including Apple/Google in-app purchases and web billing
• Have an Intermediate (B1) level of English or higher

Would be a plus

• Familiarity with Grafana, Loki, or Kibana for log and metrics analysis
• Basic API test automation skills using JavaScript/TypeScript orPostman tests
• Experience with proxy debugging tools such as Charles or Proxyman to distinguish client-side and backend issues
