Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is expanding the Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia, and hiring Manual Machinists. Pay starts at $28.59 per hour for the first 40 hours, with $42.89 overtime and $57.18 for seventh consecutive day work.

Weekly production incentive bonus, twice-yearly profit sharing, and comprehensive health/dental/vision and 401(k) are offered. Responsibilities include operating shop equipment, performing own setups, reading blueprints, and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience reading blueprints and drawing interpretations.
• Proficient with micrometers and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to setup machines and produce complex parts.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment in the machine shop including lathes, mills, drills, broaching, sharpening and surface grinding.
• Experienced in performing own setups.
• Must be able to make complex parts from blueprints.
• Proficient in using micrometers and precision measuring equipment.
• Familiar with fits, bearings, ways, clearances and interference fits.
• Familiar with thread types and threading operations.
• Maintain clean workspace and dispose of chips, oil and grease.
• Prioritize safety with TCOS approaches.
• Read blueprints and redraw/dimension sketches.
• Occasional non-routine hours during nights/weekends, including emergencies.
• Overhead crane certification (will train); Fork truck certification (will train).
• Pass hands-on test.
