Job summary

Gage Bilt in Clinton Charter Township, MI is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to support low-volume production, tooling and fixture work in our manufacturing facility.

You will read blueprints, operate manual Bridgeports and lathes, inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, and document work performed. This role suits a self-motivated craftsman who can manage multiple small jobs and maintain quality.

Qualifications

• Previous manual machining experience required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience reading blueprints and part drawings.
• Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Welding experience is a plus.

We are looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to support low-volume production, special orders, tooling, and fixture work within our manufacturing facility.

This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical ability who is comfortable working independently and handling a variety of manual machining tasks throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and part drawings
• Operate manual Bridgeports, lathes, arbor presses, and welding equipment
• Use measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify dimensions
• Complete paperwork and documentation for work performed
• Perform low-volume production work typically ranging from 5–20 pieces
• Produce special orders, alterations, and one-off parts as needed
• Assist with tool making and fixture-building projects
• Support the grind department when needed
• Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follow company and plant safety requirements

Qualifications

• Previous manual machining experience required
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Welding experience is a plus
• Tool making and fixture-building experience preferred

Pay: $26 per hour and higher based on experience/capabilities
