Job summary

The Bradbury Co., Inc. located in Moundridge, KS, seeks an experienced manual machinist to operate a variety of machinery and process workpieces to print specifications.

The position requires study of prints, layout of dimensions, setup and operation of metalworking equipment, and adherence to tooling instructions. Responsibilities include following oral and written instructions, using precision measuring instruments, and working independently or with others while maintaining safety and quality.

Qualifications

Proficient with precision measuring instruments and blueprints.
Comfort with reading and interpreting job orders and tooling instructions.
Able to operate a wide range of metalworking tools.
Follows oral and written instructions and safety procedures.
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Lifts up to 50 lbs as required.

Responsibilities

Study prints and job orders to determine product specs, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
Layout dimensions on parts per prints.
Set up and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications.
May learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists and related equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

This role is for an experienced manual machinist. Job duties include operating a variety of machinery and equipment, to process work pieces to print or job order specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Studies prints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
Layout dimensions on parts per prints .
Setup and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications and ensure conformity of finished work.
May be required to learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists, and other equipment as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Able to use and understand all precision measuring instruments.
Understands basic math concepts.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, bills of material, setup sheets, etc.
Able to use a wide variety of tools.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Lifting up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Prefer successful completion of related coursework at a trade or technical school
High school degree or equivalent
Requires extensive related manufacturing experience
