Job summary

The Bradbury Co., Inc. in Kansas is seeking an experienced manual machinist. You will study prints, set up tools, and operate drills, grinders, mills and lathes to form metal to tight specifications.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints and BOMs, applying precise measurement and math, and following instructions. This role requires reliability, safety, and willingness to work long hours to meet production goals.

Qualifications

Experience reading prints and job orders for tolerances and tooling instructions.
Ability to read blueprints and bills of materials.
Proficient in using precision measuring instruments.
Strong basic math and shop arithmetic skills.
Able to operate a variety of metalworking equipment safely.
Willingness to work long hours when necessary.

Responsibilities

Study prints and determine operation sequence based on specifications.
Layout dimensions on parts per prints.
Set up and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications.
Learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists and other equipment as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

This role is for an experienced manual machinist. Job duties include operating a variety of machinery and equipment, to process work pieces to print or job order specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Studies prints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
Layout dimensions on parts per prints .
Setup and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications and ensure conformity of finished work.
May be required to learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists, and other equipment as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Able to use and understand all precision measuring instruments.
Understands basic math concepts.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, bills of material, setup sheets, etc.
Able to use a wide variety of tools.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Lifting up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Prefer successful completion of related coursework at a trade or technical school
High school degree or equivalent
Requires extensive related manufacturing experience

Must supply own hand tools.
