Job summary

The Bradbury Co., Inc. in Moundridge, KS seeks an experienced manual machinist to operate a variety of machines and equipment, processing parts to print or job order specifications.

You will study prints, set up tooling, and prepare work to spec. You will layout dimensions, follow blueprints and setup sheets, run drills, grinders, mills, and lathes as needed, and maintain safety and quality while meeting production goals.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret prints, BOMs, and setup sheets.
• Experience with precision measurement and tool handling.
• Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Study prints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
• Layout dimensions on parts per prints.
• Setup and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications and ensure conformity of finished work.
• May be required to learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists, and other equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

This role is for an experienced manual machinist. Job duties include operating a variety of machinery and equipment, to process work pieces to print or job order specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Studies prints and job orders for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
• Layout dimensions on parts per prints .
• Setup and operate machinery to cut shape or form metal to specifications and ensure conformity of finished work.
• May be required to learn and operate drills, grinders, mills, lathes, forklifts, overhead hoists, and other equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

• Able to use and understand all precision measuring instruments.
• Understands basic math concepts.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, bills of material, setup sheets, etc.
• Able to use a wide variety of tools.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Lifting up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

• Prefer successful completion of related coursework at a trade or technical school
• High school degree or equivalent
• Requires extensive related manufacturing experience

• Must supply own hand tools.
• Ability to change assignments frequently .
• Can work well independently and with others.
• Observe safety and security procedures by using equipment and materials properly.
