Job description

B&T USA is seeking a skilled and experienced Manual Machinist. The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machines such as lathes and mills to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Machine parts to specifications, using various machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.
  • Maintain machines to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Review drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Read and interpret prints including complex multi part assemblies.
  • Select appropriate machine and settings for a given task.
  • Develop protocols to ensure accuracy of parts produced and rework non-conforming parts.
  • Properly cut and shape materials to match blueprints and specifications.
  • Measure parts with correct tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauge, pins, and gauge blocks.
  • Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the timely completion of jobs and communicate to management team members of any issues that affect the completion.
  • Monitor all machines while working and identify any need for adjustments.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by following established safety standards.

Required Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 10+ years of lathe and mill experience.
  • Previous experience with manual machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict production deadlines.
  • Must meet ATF requirements for firearm possession.
  • Work performed in a manufacturing machine shop environment.
  • Exposed to machine shop manufacturing elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
  • Fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop or crouch.

Job Type

FT –Hourly

On-Site, Monday to Friday. May be required to work after-hours when needed to meet production demands.
