Job summary

Benshaw seeks skilled machinists to work on a range of manual and CNC equipment in a fast-paced setting. You will read blueprints, interpret process sheets, and set up machines to produce precision parts.

The role involves measuring parts to tolerances and collaborating with engineers on part assemblies. Typical tasks include converting metric drawings to standard, performing tool changes, and maintaining safety and quality standards in a 6am–2:30pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in reading blueprints, tolerances and process sheets.
• Experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment.
• Ability to interpret sketches and convert metric drawings to standard.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and inspect detailed parts from blueprints and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools (manual mills, drill presses, band saws, shears, punches) and calculate with math.
• Convert metric drawings to standard.
• Determine setup methods for machines based on instructions.
• Perform minor repairs of equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and meet quality/efficiency targets.
• Prove out CNC programs when required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm

Position Overview

Work includes various routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Under general supervision, works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Job Responsibilities

• Manufacture and inspects detailed parts from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment ( Manual mills, drill presses, Band saws, shearing & punch presses, flexibus bending jigs, and other machining equipment) and using math.
• Convert Metric Drawings to Standard.
• Determines how to set up machines based on instructions received.
• Perform minor repairs of equipment.
• Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level.
• Prove out CNC programs when required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• Technical/trade school
• 2-3 years’ experience on manual machines

Desired Skills and Experience

• Ability to make decisions or suggestions based on rules or procedures.
• Multiple choice situations in which prior experience with similar problems has shown which choice is most appropriate, selecting from known alternatives
