Job summary

Benshaw, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a machine shop operator to perform routine and semi-routine setup and manufacturing tasks on manual and CNC equipment.

You will read blueprints, set up machines, inspect parts, and collaborate with engineers to understand part assemblies, while maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced shop. The role requires hands-on experience with manual machines, a technical background, and the ability to interpret drawings and process sheets to meet precision

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical or trade schooling is preferred.
• 2–3 years’ experience on manual machines.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and inspects detailed parts from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using manual and other machining equipment.
• Convert Metric Drawings to Standard.
• Determine how to set up machines based on instructions received.
• Perform minor repairs of equipment.
• Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards; maintain quality and efficiency.
• Prove out CNC programs when required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm

Position Overview

Work includes various routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Under general supervision, works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Job Responsibilities

• Manufacture and inspects detailed parts from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment ( Manual mills, drill presses, Band saws, shearing & punch presses, flexibus bending jigs, and other machining equipment) and using math.
• Convert Metric Drawings to Standard.
• Determines how to set up machines based on instructions received.
• Perform minor repairs of equipment.
• Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level.
• Prove out CNC programs when required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• Technical/trade school
• 2-3 years’ experience on manual machines
