Job summary

Benshaw Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an experienced machinist to join our precision shop. You will read blueprints, set up manual machines, perform standard cutting and shaping operations, and make tool adjustments under supervision.

Responsibilities include inspecting parts, converting metric drawings to standard, proving out CNC programs when required, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. Candidates should have 2-3 years' manual machining experience and a technical/trade school

Job description

Location: 615 Alpha Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
Position Overview:
Work includes various routine and semi-routine assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Under general supervision, works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture and inspects detailed parts from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment ( Manual mills, drill presses, Band saws, shearing & punch presses, flexibus bending jigs, and other machining equipment) and using math.
  • Convert Metric Drawings to Standard.
  • Determines how to set up machines based on instructions received.
  • Perform minor repairs of equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level.
  • Prove out CNC programs when required.

  • Ability to make decisions or suggestions based on rules or procedures.
  • Multiple choice situations in which prior experience with similar problems has shown which choice is most appropriate, selecting from known alternatives
