Job summary

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN is actively seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for the 2nd shift to operate Swiss-style CNC equipment and similar machines. The role emphasizes quality, setup, and in-process inspection within a team supporting aerospace applications.

The ideal candidate has five+ years of machining experience, strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills, and a solid foundation in shop math and lean manufacturing principles. Overtime opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least five or more years prior to hire.
• Advanced experience operating Swiss-style CNC equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• Strong comprehension of GD&T and blue print reading, Lean Manufacturing concepts, and SFM (speeds and feeds).

Responsibilities

• Operate assigned CNC machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications.
• Use samples, blueprints, and schematics to determine methods and sequence.
• Set up fixtures and cutting tools; perform setup operations.
• Perform first article and buyoff, and in-process inspection actions.
• Run production on multiple machines (Primary & Secondary) and maintain safety.

Greer Stop Nut in Nashville, TN has an immediate need for an experienced CNC Machinist on 2ndShift. Candidates should have extensive prior experience operating Swiss-style mutli-spindle CNC machines, or other similar type of CNC equipment.

At Greer Stop Nut, we manufacture specialty threaded locking fasteners that are frequently used on items such as commercial and military jets and Naval ships and submarines. The manufacturing process of these pieces are carefully monitored to ensure the highest level of quality is always ensured. Schedule

Start time is 2:30 PM and the shift ends at 11:00 PM Monday - Friday

Overtime

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate assigned CNC machine(s) to manufacture parts to required specifications
• Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations
• Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances
• Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed
• Perform and record in-process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications.
• Perform first article and buyoff
• Perform setup operations which includes setting up fixtures and cutting tools
• Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools
• Run production on multiple machines at once (Primary & Secondary)
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction
• Complete other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Advanced experience operating Swiss-style CNC equipment or other similar devices used for machining metal parts.
• A working knowledge of shop math including tool geometry, positive and negative numbers, as well as basic geometry.
• Possess a strong comprehension of GD&T and blue print reading, understanding Lean Manufacturing concepts, and utilizing SFM (speeds and feeds) to manufacture complex alloys

Required Experience

• Typically, this position requires evidence of success in machining duties for at least five or more years prior to hire.

Level of Education

• High School diploma or GED is expected
