Job description

Business Unit: Sulzer Turbo Services, Houston, Inc.

Reports to: Big Bay Division Production Supervisor

Shift:

Work hours are subject to change & will be determined by workload and shift coverage needs. Typically, Day Shift will start at 5:00AM or 7:00AM and end at 3:30PM; Typically, Night Shift will start at 3:30PM and will end at 12:00AM or 2:00AM.

Company Overview:

Sulzer Turbo Services (STS) is an independent provider of services and repairs of critical turbomachinery. We specialize in the repair, overhaul, and replacement of parts for high-speed rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, compressors, expanders, and other industrial rotating equipment found primarily in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Petrochemical, Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Fertilizer, and Power Generation markets.

  • Work closely and clearly communicate with the other departments, Machine personnel, Supervisor, and Lead Man.
  • Capable of setting up & operating all machines in the shop (including large mills, lathes, tool post grinders, and other equipment).
  • Operate manual and automatic feeds to 0.0002” as required for final cuts.
  • Complete assigned jobs start to finish with little or no supervision. This includes the ability to perform the following:
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches that may require intermediate math and problem-solving skills to calculate dimensions not specified on print.
  • Have and maintain the ability to use and operate the overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and forklifts.
  • Maintain LEAN objectives within the department.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Experience as a Manual machinist.
  • Experience with both CNC and manual machining.
  • Field machinist experience.
