Job summary

BlackRock Resources, LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a Manual Machinist (Lathe) for a contract-to-hire, onsite role with a 6:00–18:00 schedule and possible Saturdays.

You will inspect components, review drawings, plan tooling, and machine parts to specification while maintaining records and safety standards. Strong precision metrology and blueprint-reading skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating manual mills and lathes, preferably in oil and gas.
  • Able to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints.
  • Skilled with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
  • Forklift, overhead, and jib crane experience required.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inbound inspection.
  • Log and update records of component conditions prior and after repair / machining operation.
  • Review samples or instructions to understand specifications of output.
  • Plan the sequence for the completion of a job.
  • Select appropriate tooling.
  • Segregate and mark product, components and parts based on customer and internal requirements.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or machining.
  • Repair/machine components with reference to drawings and specs
  • Complete final inspection as directed.
  • Load and unload inspection racks and trucks.
  • Maintain machines, equipment, tooling, and shop supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Maintain a safe and organized work area
  • Notify management of any issues related to the machines and equipment

Manual Machinist (Lathe)

Contract to hire

Houston TX – On Site

6a-6p (no shift rotation) M-F Occasional Saturdays.

Pay rate up to $32.00 per hour. (x1.5 for OT)

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Complete inbound inspection

Skills/Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED - Trade school completion preferred
  • Mechanical or Technical experience required
  • Experience in operations of manual mills and lathes, preferably supporting the oil and gas industry
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g. micrometers, calipers etc).
  • Experience operating a forklift, overhead and jib crane in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of API, mud motor/downhole components and shop components
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Maintain professional communication and relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and pay close attention to details
Physical and Other Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. more than once a day
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Perform physical work of repetitive tasks
  • Ability to pass Vision Test on Jaeger Eye Chart (No. 1 or 2 without or with glasses/contact lenses)
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
