Job summary

NOV Texas Oil Tools in Texas is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to support oilfield operations. You will set up and operate manual engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses to produce precise parts from raw stock.

The role requires reading blueprints, working independently, and maintaining quality while safely handling heavy parts in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Must have 10+ years’ experience running large and small engine lathes.
• Experience with oilfield machining is highly desired.
• Ability to machine complex parts independently from raw stock to final dimensions.
• Strong knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, materials, and shop math.
• Skilled in repairing and reworking damaged components to meet exact specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical training is preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check, physical and drug test.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts from raw material to finished dimensions with no supervision.
• Cut external and internal threads by single point (O.D. and I.D.).
• Cut and finish ring grooves, including BX, R, and Face grooves.
• Repair damaged parts, including chasing threads to restore specifications.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform routine machine maintenance.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to troubleshoot machining challenges.

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Machine parts from raw material to finished dimensions with no supervision.
• Confidently and effectively cut outside diameter (O.D.) and inside diameter (I.D.) threads by single point.
• Cut and finish ring grooves, including BX, R, and Face grooves.
• Experience repairing damaged parts, including chasing threads to restore specification.
• Inspect and verify finished parts using precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, performing routine machine maintenance and minor adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to troubleshoot machining challenges and deliver quality results.
