Job summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a reliable Manual Machinist for a local client in East Baton Rouge Parish in an air-conditioned shop. This is full-time, long-term with evaluation hire, Monday–Friday 7 am–3 pm, and pay starting at $15-30 per hour DOE.

Core duties include setting up and operating manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses and other shop equipment to manufacture and repair precision components.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, tapping, milling operations.
• Verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.

Manual Machinist – Baton Rouge - Air-Conditioned Shop

FULL-TIME/LONG-TERM/EVALUATION HIRE

Monday – Friday 7 am – 3 pm

Pay $15-30 / hr + to start DOE

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently seeking a reliable and hard-working Manual Machinist for a local client inEast Baton Rouge Parish.The primary responsibility will beputting parts together for assembly and utilizing power tools to assemble mechanical seals.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Manual Machinist:

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment to manufacture and repair precision components.
• Machine individual parts and components used in mechanical seals and related industrial equipment, supporting manufacturing and repair operations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and work instructions.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, tapping, milling, and other machining operations.
• Calculate dimensions and determine proper machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and setup requirements.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
• Machine parts to specified dimensions and close tolerances while maintaining required surface finishes.
• Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet specifications and quality requirements.
• Set up tooling, fixtures, workholding devices, and cutting tools for individual jobs.
• Perform repair and rework of existing components when required.
• Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-spec components and determine appropriate machining or repair procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation associated with completed machining work.
• Keep machines, tooling, and the work area clean and properly maintained.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment problems when necessary.
• Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.
• Work closely with other machinists, technicians, inspectors, engineering personnel, and shop leadership to complete jobs accurately and on schedule.
