Job summary

GWS Tool Group in South Beloit, IL is seeking a Manual Grinder to operate Chamfer Grinders and other manual machines to produce premium, high‑precision cutting tools. You will verify accuracy using prints, drawings, and specifications, and assemble final product per BOM.

Responsibilities include setup, offsets, reading blueprints, selecting fixtures, setting speeds/feeds, inspecting finished work, and maintaining quality and process control on a day shift.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Machining certification is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience required.
• Experience with surface grinders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Setup and offsets as required.
• Study blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Select fixtures, tools, and material on machines.
• Set controls to regulate speed, feeds, depth and angle.
• Check machinery daily for functionality.
• Use prints and bill of materials to assemble final product.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Manual Grinder will work with Chamfer Grinders, and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, cutting tools.Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints, componentdrawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.Use hardware on the build sheets to assemble final product to print specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for the setup and offsets asrequired.
• Studiesblueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part todeterminedimensions and tolerances for finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Verifies conformance of finishedworkpiece tospecifications.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, grindersand shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors and speed, feed, depth, and angle cut.
• Check machinerydailyto ensure functionality.
• Other dutiesassigned.
• Use prints andbillof materialsto assemble final product.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) isrequired.
• Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but notrequired.
• Minimumof 1 year machine shop experience isrequired.
• Experience withSurfaceGrinders is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong math skillsrequiredto performday to dayoperations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
• Ability to accurately read blueprints.
• Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
• Ability to measure, examine, and test completed toolsin order todetect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
• Ability to set up, adjust, andoperatebasic machine toolsin order toperform precision machining operations.
• Ability tomonitorfeeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.
• Ability tolift upto 50 pounds.
• Ability to stoop,bendor kneel whenrequired.
