Job summary

GWS Tool Group in Nashville, TN is seeking a Manual Grinder to work with chamfer grinders and other manual machines to produce premium quality, high-precision cutting tools. You will verify accuracy against engineering prints, component drawings, and specifications, and assemble final product to print specifications.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, one year of machine shop experience, and familiarity with measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Machining certification is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 1 year machine shop experience is required.
• Experience with surface grinders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Setup and offsets as required.
• Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Verify conformance of finished piece to specifications.
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and material on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders and shapers.
• Calculate speeds, feeds, depth, and angle of cut.
• Check machinery daily to ensure functionality.
• Other duties assigned.
• Use prints and bill of materials to assemble final product.

Job Summary

The Manual Grinder will work with Chamfer Grinders, and other various manual machines to produce premium quality, high precision, cutting tools.Will verify accuracy by using engineering prints,componentdrawings, assembly drawings, and engineering specifications.Use hardware on the build sheets to assemble final product to print specifications.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for the setup and offsets asrequired.
• Studiesblueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part todeterminedimensions and tolerances for finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Verifies conformance of finishedworkpiece tospecifications.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and material on machines such as mills, lathes,grindersand shapers.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors and speed, feed, depth, and angle cut.
• Check machinerydailyto ensure functionality.
• Other dutiesassigned.
• Use prints andbillof materialsto assemble final product.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) isrequired.
• Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is preferred but notrequired.
• Minimumof 1 year machine shop experience isrequired.
• Experience withSurfaceGrinders is preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong math skillsrequiredto performday to dayoperations including the ability to convert metric to inch and decimal to fraction.
• Ability to accurately read blueprints.
• Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders.
• Ability to measure, examine, and test completed toolsin order todetect defects and ensure conformance with specifications.
• Ability to set up, adjust, andoperatebasic machine toolsin order toperform precision machining operations.
• Ability tomonitorfeeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting.
• Ability tolift upto 50 pounds.
• Ability to stoop,bendor kneel whenrequired.
