Job summary

Rust Belt Recruiting is seeking a Manual/CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC lathes for turning large-diameter components. You will work on parts ranging from 20 inches to 40+ inches in diameter and use overhead cranes for loading and unloading heavy pieces, while ensuring high-quality tolerances.

Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of CNC machine experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and the ability to read micrometers and precision tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of hands-on CNC machine operation experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and precision drawings.
• Experience operating overhead cranes for heavy parts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes for complex turning operations.
• Work with large-diameter parts from 20
• 40
• inches in diameter.
• Safely operate overhead cranes to load, position, and unload heavy components into the lathe.
• Read and interpret blueprints, micrometers, and precision instruments.
• Perform tool selection, setup, and routine maintenance.
• Conduct continuous quality inspections to ensure tight tolerances.
• Monitor material behavior during turning and adjust speeds/feeds as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work area per shop standards.
