The role requires reading engineering drawings, selecting tooling, and performing turning, threading, drilling, and related operations to ensure dimensional accuracy and high quality. Safety and careful measurement are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Experience operating manual lathes in a manufacturing or machine shop.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machining practices, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual engine lathes to machine metal components to precise specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and measuring equipment.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting tools for various machining applications.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, drilling, and other machining operations.
• Accurately measure finished parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Inspect work throughout the machining process to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Make necessary adjustments to tooling and machine settings to maintain specifications.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep equipment and work areas clean and organized.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
