Job summary

Philadelphia Phillies are seeking a Mandarin Interpreter to support a Taiwanese player within our Minor League system, facilitating clear communication among the player, coaching staff, medical staff, and organizational personnel. Lodging accommodations will be provided while traveling or assigned to team locations.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and verbal).
• Experience related to baseball environment or roles (player/coach/staff/interpreter).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to travel extensively and maintain a flexible schedule during the season.
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
• Professionalism, discretion, and cultural awareness.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time English–Mandarin and Mandarin–English interpretation for a designated player.
• Assist with communication during practices, games, meetings, workouts, medical appointments, and team activities.
• Support the player with day-to-day logistics, scheduling, and travel coordination as needed.
• Serve as a cultural liaison between the player and Phillies staff.
• Travel extensively based on the player’s assignment within the Minor League system.
• Spend significant time in Florida and the Dominican Republic during the early stages of the assignment.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and strong working relationships with players and staff.
• Assist Player Development staff with additional translation or communication needs when requested.
