Job summary

Tulane University’s Public Culture journal seeks an Editor to oversee day-to-day operations, manage editorial office activities, and supervise peer-review and production workflows. The role requires coordinating with editors, authors, and the publisher to move research from submission to publication.

Responsibilities include manuscript evaluation, guidance on editorial standards, and ensuring ethical compliance. Strong project management and independent problem-solving are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, journalism, publishing, or communication is required.
• Five to seven years experience in editorial work or publishing in an academic setting is preferred.
• Experience managing editorial workflows and production schedules is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Editorial & Production Workflow, ensure timely deadlines and smooth communication with authors and editors.
• Evaluate manuscripts for completeness and guide authors on style, figures, and permissions.
• Coordinate peer-review using ScholarOne and track progress to ensure timely feedback and decisions.
• Prepare editorial reports and manage editorial board meetings and communications.
• Collaborate with Tulane Global Humanities Center staff on events and integration activities.
