Job Description
Under the direction of the Deputy Chief of Professional Learning, the Managing Director of Professional Learning & Instructional Talent Development drives the execution of KIPP Texas’s professional learning strategy to achieve excellent and equitable student outcomes, focusing on teachers and instructional leadership. This leader ensures all KIPPsters are equipped to deliver on our promise to families through responsive, data-informed development that enhances teaching and instructional practices across our schools.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Implement a statewide vision for professional learning that drives student achievement and supports academic excellence.
- Align professional learning to KIPP Texas’s strategic priorities and academic goals in partnership with senior leadership.
- Serve as a key thought partner to academics, school management, and operational leaders to ensure alignment across initiatives.
- Build systems for quality assurance to ensure professional learning is designed according to best practices for adult learning.
- Drive logistics for professional learning to focus on content delivery and mastery.
- Ensure quality facilitation of professional learning through Train the Trainer programs and feedback systems.
- Lead the strategy for asynchronous learning to support mid-year instructional hires.
Drive Teacher and Instructional Leadership Development
- Design and lead a comprehensive professional learning strategy for teachers and instructional leaders to meet organizational goals.
- Develop tiered learning experiences to increase proficiency in areas such as Teacher Quality, Assessment Leadership, and Content Leadership, aligned with the 70/20/10 model.
- Ensure development is anchored in the Framework for Effective Teaching and contributes to measurable growth, such as 85% of participants reporting growth aligned to the framework and 70% of critical need teachers earning Effective+ ratings.
Lead a High-Performing Team
- Manage and coach a team of leaders to implement cohesive professional learning across regions.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and accountability; set and monitor outcomes.
- Oversee operational execution to ensure efficiency and strategic alignment.
Data-Driven Strategy
- Use real-time and longitudinal data to inform priorities and support differentiated development.
- Partner with various teams to deliver relevant, high-impact learning experiences.
- Monitor effectiveness through progress metrics tied to teacher quality and student outcomes.
Serve as an Senior Leader in Academics
- Act as the primary liaison for professional learning within the Academics team and across departments.
- Build cross-functional partnerships to advance organizational goals.
- Ensure decisions center on the needs of students and drive achievement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s in Education preferred.
- 10+ years in K-12 public education.
- 7+ years of people management, including 5+ years in systems-level or executive leadership.
- Experience leading or supporting K-12 public schools toward academic excellence.
- Proven track record of delivering results.
