Through strategic partnerships, financial assistance, and student-centered resources, T3 works to create equitable pathways to education, meaningful careers, and long-term economic mobility.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and mission-driven Managing Director of Finance to join our leadership team and help guide the organization's financial health, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.

About the Opportunity

The Managing Director of Finance serves as T3's senior finance executive, providing strategic leadership across financial planning, accounting, budgeting, grants management, compliance, procurement, and vendor oversight.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), with strategic alignment to the CEO, this position is a key advisor to executive leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in nonprofit financial management, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on financial oversight. This individual will play a critical role in strengthening financial operations, supporting organizational growth, and ensuring resources are managed responsibly to advance T3's mission.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute long-term financial strategies, annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, and sustainability plans.
  • Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO, COO, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Lead financial planning, scenario modeling, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Establish and strengthen financial policies, internal controls, and organizational accountability.
  • Supervise and develop finance team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.

Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close processes, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, budget-to-actual analyses, forecasts, and executive financial reports.
  • Lead annual audits, financial reviews, Form 990 preparation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to nonprofit GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control requirements.

Grants & Budget Management

  • Oversee financial management of grants, including budgeting, reporting, compliance, and fund tracking.
  • Partner with development and program teams to prepare grant budgets and financial documentation.
  • Monitor grant expenditures, restricted funding, and reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of donor and grant resources.
  • Provide leadership over organizational procurement, purchasing policies, and vendor management.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, vendor performance, and relationships with external service providers.
  • Strengthen operational efficiency, fiscal accountability, and compliance across departments.
  • Provide executive oversight of technology investments, vendor relationships, cybersecurity risk management, and technology-related budgets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, and grant accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience with grants management, financial compliance, and reporting.
  • Experience leading budgeting, financial forecasting, audits, and financial operations.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing technology operations, enterprise systems, or cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, data integration tools, or educational data platforms.
  • Experience working in nonprofit, education, or government environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial information to executive leadership and boards.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to financial and operational leadership.
