Qualifications

  • 10+ years of management experience in third-party logistics (3PL), with expertise in customer relationships, contracts, pricing, P&L, QDM, and talent development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support logistics management teams, ensuring alignment with goals and KPIs.
  • Manage regional P&L in accordance with FedEx Supply Chain policies.
  • Drive new business sales, implementation, and year-over-year growth.
  • Oversee complex, automated logistics operations to meet performance targets.
  • Promote quality-driven management and data‑driven accountability.
  • Collaborate with CI and Engineering teams to set site goals.

Job description

The Managing Director of Customer Operations provides strategic leadership for a region's logistics, warehouse, and fulfillment operations. This role oversees Senior Managers and support functions to ensure efficient execution across a diverse suite of supply chain services. The position focuses on operational performance, customer relationships, service delivery, and cost management, while identifying trends and opportunities to drive profitability and resolve regional challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support logistics management teams, ensuring alignment with goals, financial performance, operational expectations, and contractual KPIs.
  • Manage regional P&L in accordance with FedEx Supply Chain policies and procedures.
  • Proactively manage contract compliance to prevent revenue leakage and identify business opportunities.
  • Support new business sales and implementation to drive year-over-year growth in revenue and operating income.
  • Maximize operational effectiveness and ensure timely achievement of business targets.
  • Oversee complex, automated logistics operations to meet performance expectations.
  • Focus on service quality, cost management, KPIs, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Continuous Improvement and Engineering teams to set and meet site-specific improvement goals.
  • Work closely with Strategic Account Management to understand customer needs, resolve issues, and negotiate pricing.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive organic growth.
  • Monitor and adjust policies and procedures to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Drive Quality Driven Management (QDM) by setting performance standards and promoting data-driven accountability.
  • Report on business results and client relationships to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations and policies.
  • Engage in leadership development, including succession planning, coaching, and professional growth of the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Military experience at E4--E5 or O4--O5 level is acceptable.
  • 10+ years of management experience in third-party logistics (3PL), with expertise in customer relationships, contracts, pricing, P&L, QDM, and talent development.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact across organizational levels and build client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to present to senior leadership.
  • Proven experience mentoring and developing staff.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Ability to follow policies, interpret information, and perform basic math functions.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for up to 8 hours per day and perform basic tasks using hands.
  • Visual acuity including depth perception, close/distance vision, and color recognition.
