Valor Front is conducting a confidential retained search for a Director, Power Market Sector to lead the sector's strategy in the Upper Midwest. The role blends hands-on project leadership with strategic development, overseeing staffing, delivery models, and pipeline-building for co-generation and utility-scale facilities.

The individual will engage with utilities, IPPs, EPCs, OEMs and developers, travel up to 50%, and report to the SVP/General Manager.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership in business development, project management, or sector leadership within commercial construction, EPC, or the utility/power sector
• Proven success developing the power market and building executive-level relationships with utilities, IPPs, EPC firms, OEMs, and developers
• Strong understanding of preconstruction, design-build, MEP-intensive systems, commissioning, and construction delivery models
• Experience with market expansion, partnership development, and programmatic playbook creation
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Business; Master's preferred
• Willingness to travel up to 50% at times

Director, Power Market Sector | Confidential Retained Search

Valor Front has been retained by a privately held, family-owned general contractor and construction management firm with more than 110 years of history in the Upper Midwest to identify a Director, Power Market Sector.

Our client already has an active power and utility practice, live projects with a major regional utility, and generation-adjacent experience at a nationally recognized healthcare campus. This role scales a sector the company has already begun rather than launching one from zero. The Director will own the sector's strategic plan, help define staffing and delivery structure, and position the firm as a general contractor of choice for co-generation, single-cycle, and combined-cycle power facilities supporting industrial operations and critical infrastructure, along with utility-support facilities and service centers.

This is a hybrid mandate. Our client wants a leader with genuine operational experience who is willing to be in the mix on the first two to three projects while building a sustainable team, then shift toward business development and pipeline growth as the sector matures.
